Client Portal

The problem

Sending a client their documents usually means email: attachments that expire from mailboxes, threads that fork, and no way to answer "what did we actually send them?" six months later.

How Mersal solves it

Clients sign in and see only what the firm has explicitly shared — specific folders, matters or documents — in the firm's configured language. They can download what is shared and, where the firm allows it, upload back into a named folder.

How it works

Explicit grants, not a shared link

Access is granted per folder, per matter or per document to a named client user. Nothing is shared by default and nothing is shared by proximity.

Upload back into the right place

Where a folder is marked for it, a client can return documents into that folder, so the signed copy lands in the file rather than in an inbox.

Clients are never a billable seat

A firm's clients do not count against its user count. Sharing more widely never costs more.

What it prevents

  • Attachments as a filing system
  • Sharing one document and accidentally exposing the folder around it
  • Paying per person to let clients see their own matter
