Everything is in every plan

We do not withhold the audit trail or the conflict engine to sell an upgrade. The plans differ by how many people work in them, not by whether your record is defensible.

  • Unlimited matters, clients and documents
  • Conflict screening before a matter exists, across directors and UBOs
  • Document versioning, check-out and a recycle bin
  • Client portal — unlimited client users, never billed as seats
  • VAT, exempt and proforma serial books with per-line tax
  • Multi-currency billing with the rate frozen at issue
  • Append-only audit trail the application itself cannot rewrite
  • Gmail and Outlook sync, scoped to the label you choose
  • Aged receivables and reporting that excludes drafts and proformas
  • English, Arabic and French, with true right-to-left
  • Support from people who know the product

Questions

Do clients count as seats?

No. Client-portal users are never billed. A seat is a person at your firm with a Mersal login — a partner, an associate, an assistant. Share with as many clients as the work requires; it never changes what you pay.

What happens when we outgrow our seat allowance?

You can add seats to your current plan at $55 a month each, or move up a tier where that works out cheaper. If you are at your allowance, Mersal blocks the invitation and tells you, rather than quietly letting the firm exceed what it pays for.

Is there a limit on matters, clients or storage?

No limit on matters, clients, documents or client-portal users on any plan. The only thing you pay more for is more colleagues working in Mersal.

What happens if we stop paying?

Access stops. Your data is kept for 30 days and is then deleted. Before that date we tell you what your options are for keeping it.

Can we export our data?

An active firm can export its data at any time. After a lapse, the lapse notice explains your options.

Is there a free trial?

No, there is no free trial. You can explore Mersal with sample data in the preview, without signing up, or ask us for a live demonstration.

Do you take a percentage of what we bill?

No. Mersal charges a flat monthly fee and takes nothing from your fees, your client money or your settlements.

Where is our data held, and who can see it?

Each firm's data is isolated at the database by row-level security keyed on firm and role, not by hiding options in the interface — a request for another firm's record returns nothing regardless of how it is made. Access grants and revocations are written to the append-only audit ledger.
